after paco and i dropped rocio off, we were headed to the church when he got a call. it was from his family in guanajato and he was really worried that something bad had happened - they never call. it was his dad who left when paco was 2. he called to tell paco he loves him. ah! he was crying but trying to hide it, i was trying to figure out just exactly what was going on, and his dad was saying i just wanted to tell you i love and am thinking about you. it was pretty awesome.
later that night, marta, abuelita, lis, paco, and i went to a party for a church that was celebrating 16 years of ministry. it was an intense party, let me tell you. they had flags representing about 20 countries and had this huge procession with them, and then read a bible verse and prayer to go along with each country. then a very large pastor from leon preached for almost 2 hours. he was hilarious and super energized...whenever he wanted to make a point he would smack his fists against his gut. i'm sure he's covered in bruises from the way he was talking/hitting himself.
today, sunday, i taught sunday school. it was really great! lourdes helped me find a bilingual website with tons of
a group from california was in church today. they introduced themselves and said they were working at rancho el refugio! it was a father son team doing some work on the pole barn. i love when americans come because i can have a legit conversation and say everything i want to say...but this was even better! they usually come for easter 2 and were back for a short week. it was so great to talk to them.
i'm so excited for rocio and school tomorrow. i hope she loves it and it's the start of something great!
