school was a little rough today for a couple different reasons, but the kids learned that we have five senses and they can name all of them. for that, i will rejoice. we used popcorn while it was in the microwave and after, as we were eating, to talk about the 5 senses and how we use them while we're making and eating popcorn.
in the afternoon luz, the woman who works below with the preschoolers, and becky and i went for a walk with the kids down below. it was so great to get out with all of them. they had a lot of fun and no one ran away!
after that martin brought teddy over to the big house and arranged all the kids in wheelchairs so they were facing teddy and made a big deal out of him being the teacher and having everyone get ready for class. he was so thrilled....when he gets excited he puts his hands out in front of him, kind of like he's going to give you high 5s, and scrunches his whole body up. its kind of frightening if you don't know what's happening but when you realize he's super happy it's a great thing to see. he spent the next half hour reading out loud from a kid's bible. it was a lot of fun for everyone.
i went to ted and renie's tonight for the tuesday night worship thing. we talked a lot about what's going on here and it's always good for me to listen and get to know their hearts better.
becky and i went grocery shopping and the CHRISTMAS aisle was up and ready to go. eek! halloween is a really dark holiday here - they celebrate day of the dead - and there's obviously no thanksgiving in november...so the next major holiday is christmas. wow.
